Founding of CLF
The Courthouse Legacy Foundation mission is to ensure the Santa Barbara Courthouse is preserved for future generations. In 2003 during the State and National Historic Landmark application process, extensive damage was discovered which requires specialized restoration and preservation. The County of Santa Barbara only has the funds for general maintenance and does not have the resources to authentically preserve and restore the architectural and artistic features that have been deteriorating over time. In response to this challenge a group of community leaders came together to form the Santa Barbara Courthouse Legacy Foundation. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for projects to restore, preserve, and conserve the Santa Barbara Courthouse.
